Participatory planning

Through a well-structured and strong participatory planning process, Elemental Initiatives engages residents, government officials, small business owners and other stakeholders to envision and develop policy and design recommendations to increase the quality of life in communities and neighborhoods.

We assist communities in creating ways to move their projects forward in an inclusive and collaborative way, grounded in human-centered design. Our team will facilitate gathering data from residents, businesses, government officials and other stakeholders, and synthesizing that data into plans that incorporate every group's priorities.

In partnership with local and national institutions, we research and study urban conditions and housing trends, technology and innovation and its links to health, and physical activity and the built environment. Our team has written over two dozen academic and policy reports addressing urban conditions in various Western cities, energy efficiency, entrepreneurship, transit, community gardens, and active living.
